Best Monthly Magazine Out Today! What An Exciting Day!

Published in Best Monthly Magazine – March 2020.

Best Monthly Magazine, March edition, hit the High Street shelves today. It features our photographs in a two-page article about a remarkable lady, Shirley Hoyles. Best Monthly magazine has published an article to show how astonishing she really is. I have been privileged to photograph the students at Vertical Joy in Gainsborough, including Shirley, on a few occasions now. I’m pleased to say, we have another photo shoot scheduled this coming April, which is already fully booked!

Shirley Hoyles Inspiration

Sarah Myers, owner of Vertical Joy in Gainsborough, was also thrilled about the article when she told me:

“Shirley is an amazing student who has worked consistently hard over the last few years and has only got to this level by trying out every move and giving 100% in class. She is always supportive of others and a constant inspiration to us all. She takes this approach to everything she does and, it’s been noted that, Shirley has won every single fancy dress event since joining Vertical Joy. This is why she is more than deserving of the recognition this article brings.”

The Best Monthly magazine is instantly recognisable as it features Dame Helen Mirren and Kate Garroway on the front cover which is not bad company for Shirley to be keeping, is it? Don’t lose the chance to grab your copy now and you won’t fail to be inspired by Shirley Hoyles! If you’ve already purchased your copy and are now inspired by this lady, be sure to make contact with Sarah Myers at Vertical Joy to get involved. You won’t be disappointed by how much help and guidance you’ll receive; just look at what Shirley Hoyles has achieved there! Naturally, it’s very exciting for our photographs to be published in a national magazine too and we’re really pleased about that and being associated with Shirley this way!

Everton FC; A Professional Footballer’s Journey!

Everton FC Demonstrates That With Talent and Hard Work Comes Opportunity, And With Opportunity Comes Confidence and Success!

Yesterday, Mason Holgate signed a new five year deal to stay at Everton FC, securing his services until 2025. This is a huge vote of confidence in a player who has developed, in different positions, to exhibit his talents on the biggest Premier League stages across England and make him one of the most sought after utility players in the league today.

Carlo Ancelotti stated, in definite terms, even prior to this contract renewal being finalised, that Mason Holgate would not be leaving Everton’s books despite having clubs such as Manchester City showing more than a passing interest.

Why this post then? Well, as a football fan, it is always interesting to witness the development of any professional and, also, because, I photographed Mason Holgate when he was first emerging into consideration for the Everton first team line up as a right back.

I had the pleasure of being invited to photograph Ronald Koeman’s first game in charge at Everton away at Barnsley FC for a pre-season friendly game. Mason Holgate is shielding the ball from the advances of the Barnsley forward, making sure the ball travels towards the sideline and away from the goal.

We would like to send our congratulations to Mason Holgate on achieving his new contract with Everton FC, and the Premier League will be better for your continued development and success. Who knows, we may see you playing for England in the Summer, or is that too soon? We like considered debate and we would welcome hearing your unbiased thoughts on a potential England call up and how far this young man can go in his career?

The Toffee Man of the Moment!

The Perfect Script He Couldn’t Have Dreamt Any Better!

The “re-surgence of a sleeping giant” was how Martin Keown put it on BBC’s Match of the Day after watching an energetic Everton side defeat a very good Chelsea side that has secured more points away from home this season than at Stamford Bridge. Everton’s disastrous run of form this season resulted in the termination of Marco Silva’s contract just two days prior to this game and Duncan Ferguson was placed in temporary charge for the first time in his football career whilst the search continues for a replacement permanent manager. Such was Everton’s recent form, this looked like another ‘nailed on’ three points for Chelsea to further establish their place in the top four of the Premier League. Just hold on there a cotton-pickin’ minute! The romance of a returning Everton legend at the helm, a new script was written and executed perfectly in true Duncan Ferguson style.

All true football fans love to see stories like this come true with, perhaps, the exception of the Chelsea fans who were on the receiving end of ‘Big Dunc’s’ introduction into football management as he took charge of Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday. As a player, he struck fear into the hearts of central defenders on both sides of the England-Scotland border and he has been working hard to gain his coaching badges whilst being one of the coaching personnel at Everton FC under various managers.

During his playing and coaching career, Duncan formed a true affection for this club and their fans which, he has not kept a secret, and this was clear to see by the manner in which he celebrated all three goals at a packed out Goodison Park Stadium.

Duncan Ferguson (Everton)

On a weekend when there were negative football stories reported,  I wanted to blog a happy story about a passionate ‘Toffee Man’ who I have encountered, and photographed, previously. I had the pleasure of being invited to photograph Ronald Koeman’s first game in charge at Everton away at Barnsley FC. As part of that day, I captured this headshot photograph of ‘Big Dunc’ prior to the start of the game which, I wanted to share as it was his ‘Big Day’ on Saturday!

It’s an Old English Sheepdog’s Life!

Old English Sheepdogs United!

Having owned two old english sheepdogs, I know what a special animal this is and I’m yet to meet one that I didn’t like! As well as meeting all the lovely people behind the dogs, it was something else to see all these dogs gathered in one place. Someone was smiling on us from above for sure, as we all enjoyed a leisurely day in very pleasant weather at the beautiful grounds of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.

We all got to meet people that we had only known through Facebook, before this day, and it was great to chat to them about everything, and anything. I never expected to meet people who live very near to where I grew up, so we talked about places we knew and how these places had changed, or even have a discussion about forensic science! When I look at the group photograph, I can see there are also many people, and dogs, I didn’t get to meet and that’s something to look forward to for the next time!

It was truly a delight to experience the interaction of these dogs who were extremely well behaved in the company of so many other competitors for affection. If only they could talk, wouldn’t it be great to understand how they felt about meeting all these kindred spirits? Here’s a shot of two litter mates being reunited and playing together!

What a Fab Shoot at Vertical Joy!

Truly An Activity For All!

What a great bunch of ladies we had along for this photo shoot! Remarkably, the student age range was almost fifty years at this photo shoot, which means that, damn! you can’t use age as an excuse any longer! Sarah, at Vertical Joy, was also on hand to assist her students, with encouragement and guidance, to achieve the moves they had practiced in class. Evidently, Sarah takes a great deal of pride in developing her students and seeing them achieve, and surpass, their own expectations. If you’re reading this, and you’re inspired by these ladies, be sure to make contact with Sarah at Vertical Joy. You won’t be disappointed by how much help and guidance you’ll receive, and you will definitely surprise yourself!

Naturally, we’re focused on achieving the photographs (little pun there lol!), that each of the ladies would be proud to display of themselves. Nevertheless, we still had a relaxed, and encouraging, environment too. The students had varying levels of confidence about having their photographs taken but, they showed real character to extend themselves beyond their comfort zone, as far as being in front of the camera was concerned; and that’s all credit to each of them and Sarah’s coaching. Most importantly, all of these ladies, without exception, delivered their poses, and hopefully, they are very proud of their results!

We may be coming to a fitness club or dance school near you, on our travels, so, let us know which school or club you’re a member of and we’ll try to arrange something for you.

Perhaps you, or someone you know, has a business involving pole fitness, dance tuition or a fitness club? If so, we would welcome a chat to show how you can also offer professional photography services to your students and members and make your business look even better in their eyes!
